Trial Balance
The Trial Balance report lists all ledger account balances to verify that total debits equal total credits. It serves as a foundational check before preparing other financial statements.
Navigate to Accounting → Reports and click the Trial Balance card.
Page Controls
| Control | Description |
|---|---|
| Date picker | Select the "as of" date for the trial balance (e.g., 01-03-2025) |
| Export | Download the trial balance report |
| Generate | Generate the report for the selected date |
Summary Cards
Three summary cards are displayed at the top after generating the report:
| Card | Description |
|---|---|
| Accounts | Total number of ledger accounts included in the report |
| Total Debits | Sum of all debit balances as of the selected date (₹) |
| Total Credits | Sum of all credit balances as of the selected date (₹) |
If Total Debits and Total Credits are equal, your books are balanced. If they don't match, investigate the discrepancy before preparing financial statements.
Report Header
The report displays the business name and the "as of" date (e.g., "Demo Business - As of 30 March 2026").
Table Columns
| Column | Description |

| Account Code | Unique code for the account (e.g., 1200, 2100, 4000) |
| Account Name | Name of the account (e.g., Accounts Receivable, Tax Payable, Sales Revenue) |
| Account Type | Type of account — Asset, Liability, Revenue, etc. (color-coded badges) |
| Debit | Debit balance for the account (₹) |
| Credit | Credit balance for the account (₹) |
The Total row at the bottom shows the sum of all Debit and Credit columns.
Account Types
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Asset | Resources owned by the business (e.g., Accounts Receivable) |
| Liability | Obligations owed by the business (e.g., Tax Payable) |
| Revenue | Income earned from sales and services (e.g., Sales Revenue) |
How to Use
- Navigate to Reports from the sidebar
- Click the Trial Balance card
- Select the date using the date picker
- Click Generate to load the report
- Review the summary cards — ensure Total Debits = Total Credits
- Click Export to download the report for auditing or filing
The report footer shows the timestamp of when it was generated (e.g., "Generated 30 March 2026 at 14:45").
