Trial Balance

The Trial Balance report lists all ledger account balances to verify that total debits equal total credits. It serves as a foundational check before preparing other financial statements.

Navigate to Accounting → Reports and click the Trial Balance card.

Page Controls

ControlDescription
Date pickerSelect the "as of" date for the trial balance (e.g., 01-03-2025)

GenerateGenerate the report for the selected date

Summary Cards

Three summary cards are displayed at the top after generating the report:

CardDescription
AccountsTotal number of ledger accounts included in the report
Total DebitsSum of all debit balances as of the selected date (₹)
Total CreditsSum of all credit balances as of the selected date (₹)
tip

If Total Debits and Total Credits are equal, your books are balanced. If they don't match, investigate the discrepancy before preparing financial statements.


Report Header

The report displays the business name and the "as of" date (e.g., "Demo Business - As of 30 March 2026").


Table Columns

ColumnDescription
Account CodeUnique code for the account (e.g., 1200, 2100, 4000)
Account NameName of the account (e.g., Accounts Receivable, Tax Payable, Sales Revenue)
Account TypeType of account — Asset, Liability, Revenue, etc. (color-coded badges)
DebitDebit balance for the account (₹)
CreditCredit balance for the account (₹)

The Total row at the bottom shows the sum of all Debit and Credit columns.


Account Types

How to Use

  1. Navigate to Reports from the sidebar
  2. Click the Trial Balance card
  3. Select the date using the date picker
  4. Click Generate to load the report
  5. Review the summary cards — ensure Total Debits = Total Credits
  6. Click Export to download the report for auditing or filing

The report footer shows the timestamp of when it was generated (e.g., "Generated 30 March 2026 at 14:45").
